What to Expect on Your First Visit

We want to provide you with the best experience possible while at Libertyville Massage Therapy Clinic. Please take a moment to read what to expect on your first visit:

Before Your Massage Therapy Session

The length of your massage therapy session can be 1 hour, 1.5 hour or a 2 hour session, which will be determined when you set your appointment. When you arrive at Libertyville Massage Therapy Clinic for your first massage therapy session, you will be asked to fill out a short medical history form. It is best to arrive 15 minutes prior to your massage session, so that you can fill out your form and begin to relax before your massage begins. Your massage therapist will read your intake form to check on any medical conditions past or present that you have documented. You will have a private interview with your massage therapist in the massage therapy room, before your session begins. Your therapist will want to know why you are coming in for a massage. This is the time for you to discuss with your massage therapist your current physical condition, muscle pain and any areas of concern that you may want the massage therapist to concentrate on during your session.

Getting Ready For Your Massage Therapy Session

Next, you and your therapist will agree on what style of massage you will receive and whether you will have a full body massage or receive focus on specific problem areas. The room will be warm with a comfortable, state of the art massage therapy table. The table will have fresh clean sheets, blanket and will be heated. During the massage you can have the heat adjusted to your comfort. The therapist will leave the room while you disrobe. You can disrobe to your level of comfort. Some clients disrobe completely, while others prefer to leave on underwear. You will then get on the massage therapy table under the top sheet. Your massage therapist will give you plenty of time before they knock on the door and ask if you are ready.

During Your Massage Therapy Session

You are already relaxing on the warm massage therapy table, listening to soothing music when your massage therapist begins the massage. The highest quality, hypoallergenic massage therapy lotion or gel will be used. If at any time during your massage session you would like less pressure or more pressure, a different massage technique, or anything changed, communicate with your massage therapist and your session will be immediately adjusted to meet your comfort level. You will receive the greatest relaxation benefit by resting quietly during your massage. If you choose to talk, your therapist will follow your lead. You will be covered with the sheet and blanket during your massage. Your massage therapist will carefully undrape your back, your leg, your arm, tucking the sheet to secure your modesty at all times. Your therapist will let you know when the session is done and will leave the room.

After Your Massage Session

Your therapist will give you time to get dressed and will knock on the door and ask if you are ready. Your therapist will bring you a cup of water and inquire how you are feeling. Your massage therapist may have follow up advice to share with you. You may ask questions at this time. Your therapist will take you to the front office when you are ready. We recommend drinking plenty of water after a massage therapy session to hydrate muscles, reduce possible soreness and help flush toxins released during the massage.

Client Testimony:

“Paris has been great. I was coming 3-4 times a year, now I come every 4-6 weeks. Helps with reducing stress, feeling overall better health. I’ve had less headaches than in the past.”
